I painted this version of Elric inside a copy of the American Fantasy illustrated edition of Dreamthief’s Daughter by Michael Moorcock.
Begun on location at the Ca D’Zan on the Ringling Museum Grounds in Sarasota, the ornate setting inspired the addition of a lovelorn princess to the 12″ x 9″ panel.
Banyan Canyon Rodeo began as a small, 12″ x 9″, plein air painting on the grounds of the Ringling mansion in Sarasota,FL. A squirrel scampered about and preened on a branch as I was painting. In the studio, the painting cried out for more interest and I remembered the squirrel’s visit and decided to imagine what might go in at this location when no one is looking.
A watercolor created en route and painted on site at Keycon in Winnipeg as a demonstration. The final tweaks were done in studio upon return. Art is 12″ x 9″ on Arches cold pressed watercolor block.
This painting is inside a Signed slipcased copy of Stephen King’s Duma Key and currently being auctioned at: http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/forumdisplay.php?9-Calvin-s-Corner

Soldiers of Time is a paperback cover to be published by Baen books. It is a military time travel story by Stephen White. Shown is the finished 27″ x 18″ oil painting, the 9″ x 6″ acrylic color sketch, and the initial 3″x 2″ pencil concept. My other covers to this series are Ghosts of Time, and Pirates of the Timestream.
Watercolor on rough absorbent stock,10″ x 9″. It was begun as a candid watercolor portrait, but the unknowing model left, so it became a memory painting from my imagination. I will be taking this to DragonCon this weekend.
A watercolor painted opposite the title page in a copy of “A Farce to Be Reckoned With” a book by Roger Zelazny and Robert Sheckley. I came up with the title to this when I read the publisher’s manuscript and got a personal atta-boy from Mr. Zelazny.
