At the Turn of the Tide DMSuccessful Return

A Sarasota, FL museum has purchased works displayed previously at two other museum locations. “At the Turn of the Tide” and “Successful Return”, both small scale oil paintings, were displayed at the Cornell Museum of Art and American Culture as part of a 6 month, one man exhibition in Delray Beach, FL in 2012, then included in a display at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center in Gainesville, GA during the summer of 2013 as part of a group showing of marine art. The Marietta Museum of Art and Whimsy recently purchased these works into their permanent collection. The museum is located at 2121 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34234.

Pirate Portrait invades ARC 2012/2013 Salon

Quicksilver 24″X 18″ oil on linen has been juried into the Art Renewal Center’s 2012 /2013 International Salon Competition. The Art Renewal Center encourages traditional realist art through their annual international competition, publications, website and sponsorships. The purpose of this portrait is to present the imaginative idea that an artist, me, had been captured by pirates, along with painting supplies. So with a little imagination, what would have resulted if a portrait painter were captured at sea and continued to practice his art in captivity?  Dutch painter, Frans Hals, was known to frequent public houses and painted several cavaliers in the same era as pirates were plundering in the new world.
