Dockside Vigil was begun before pandemic closings at the 2020 American Society of Marine Artist's Conference (at Jamestown Museum in Virginia). While painting the period ship replica, I imagined a Drake era crewman as a security guard looking down at me. It was too cold and windy to finish on site, so photos were taken to support the figure I added later in the studio. (photo credit: H. Bird)
Many of my latest works and other items are listed for sale in my online booth at IX 2020 Online. This online booth contains many of the works I painted for PS Publishing's three volume, 40 year anniversary, special edition, release of Stephen King's THE STAND, which is so horrifically apt considering current events.
A podcast interview has been released with Rereading Wolfe group, who made a video presentation to accompany the interview which adds many visuals to the discussion about working with Gene Wolfe’s writing and doing covers in general.
Art is offered as digital downloads to benefit the organization, Artists4Earth, which is an environmental group that is educating and organizing efforts that include improving environmental conditions. Their website contains an interview with the artist.
